Katherine Pout graduated from Central Saint Martins with a BA in Ceramic Design and explored a variety of media including mural art, 3D painting and sculpture.
After 20 years in London, Katherine moved to Brighton in summer 2023, drawn by the space and the sea. She recently joined us at Hove Arts and we asked her how did it go, Katherine said "It’s a privilege to be part of Hove Arts and the arts community which has been so welcoming". Katherine is very excited for her first solo Artists Open House at Flat 1, 11 Kings Gardens, Hove, BN3 2PF.
Precision cutting is Katherine's signature style, and all of her pieces are meticulously hand-cut with a scalpel blade. She is intrigued by texture and inspired by nature: birds, plants and life under water. Fractal patterns and repetition play a big part in her process, along with the use of bold colours and abstraction to produce work with an uplifting and playful message.
