Clara Wilkinson is a Brighton based artist who grew up in South London. She studied at Central St. Martins and The London Guildhall with a year studying at HKU in Utrecht, Holland.
Clara’s work is inspired by nature, but is about memory, feelings and the passing of time. She is particularly drawn to the landscapes of the South Downs, Andalucia and Exmoor - places she visits regularly. She works en plein air, using watercolours or a single black pen, before returning to her studio to paint larger scale with oil paint.
She opens her home twice a year as part of Brighton’s Artists Open House and has exhibited with the Bakery Gallery on Portobello Road, the Affordable Art fair and the Liberation Gallery in Brighton. She is currently working on a series of work inspired by Portugal and Somerset and a large landscape commission.
Clara’s work can be found in collections in the UK, USA and Europe.
Two of Clara's paintings were shortlisted for the Women in Art prize 2023 and she was ‘Artist in residence’ in January 2024’s edition of Sussex Life.
In March 2025 two of her oil paintings were selected for the extended longlist by the Jackson's Art prize.
When not in her studio, Clara can be found painting walls for her mural business Living Wall Murals.
